Once upon a time….

Becta was once  the UK’s  government agency leading the national drive to ensure the effective and innovative use of technology throughout learning.  It was established in 1997 and closed in March 2011. Becta provided leadership to embed the effective use of technology and provided rigorous research to evaluate the impact of technology on the education and skills sector.

Their website www.becta.org.uk  no longer exists, except in archived form at

So, once upon a time they took issue with me in using the domain www.becta.org

The ‘legal’ proceedings (subsequently dropped) were reported in the TES at

My becta.org still exists . it promotes the use of  Open Source resources. Open Source provides many opportunities for schools to break away from the shackles of expensive license and purchase agreements that are often related to proprietary software. Discover a relatively new  global phenomenon, and a community with a common purpose: freedom to download, freedom to modify, and freedom to distribute!
